Pune: The much awaited and trusted to be an effective vaccine on Covid19 patient’s invented by the Oxford University and the Serum Institute from Pune will be firstly trialed on 5 thousand people from hotspot areas of Pune and Mumbai, as informed by Adar Punawala, CEO of Serum Institute, Pune. Which will be joint program.
The Serum Institute, a local manufacturer of the vaccine from Pune, hopes that, if all goes well, the vaccine will hit the market by next year. Oxford University is getting good results from the corona vaccine. It is now widely produced in the UK. The field trial will be conducted in India after the Serum Institute gets final approval for the vaccine.
More than 59,000 corona victims have been registered in Pune till 23rd July. While the figure in Mumbai has reached beyond 1 lakh.
Adar Punawala, CEO of Siram Institute, said that some hot spots have been fixed for the vaccine trial in Mumbai and Pune. The initial stage proved that the vaccine was safe.
Therefore, the elderly and health workers will also be included in the vaccine trials taking place in the country. He also said a trial of the vaccine would begin next month. Apart from this, the price of the vaccine will also be taken care of which will not cost more than1 thousand rupees in India.
